Connecticut lawmakers are considering a notable change to the state’s sports betting regulations.
Legislation to tweak the state's gambling laws was officially introduced on April 4 through
File 271, and the proposal would allow wagering on in-state college programs like UConn.
Currently, Connecticut bettors can only wager on UConn or other college teams when they place tournament futures bets for intercollegiate tournaments involving in-state teams.
The state's colleges are largely neutral on the proposal, according to NBC Connecticut. Given the incredible play from UConn's men's and women's programs in recent seasons – the men's team has won consecutive national championships – there's significant interest from Connecticut bettors in wagering on the Huskies.
