Vanderbilt will try to snap its 24-game SEC losing streak when it travels to Missouri on Saturday afternoon. The Commodores have not picked up a conference win since beating Missouri in 2019. The Tigers are still searching for their first SEC victory of the year, but all three of their losses have come by single digits.
Vanderbilt turned some heads when it opened the season with a 63-10 win at Hawaii in Week 0 before adding a win over Elon in Week 1. The Commodores have only won one game since then, which came on the road against Northern Illinois in mid-September. They have to find three more wins in their final five games to become bowl eligible, which looks like an extreme longshot at this point. Vanderbilt has not won a conference game since beating Missouri three years ago, and the Commodores have not been competitive in their three league games this year.
No one in the country has more tackles against ranked teams this season than Anfernee Orji (43).
The senior leads the SEC with 10.14 tackles per game.
He is one of nine players in FBS to eclipse 70 total tackles this year.#AnchorDown pic.twitter.com/LLkRYzFMZN

They have faced a brutal schedule, though, having to play a trio of top 10 teams in Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia. Vanderbilt scored a combined three points in the losses to the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs, but it scored 28 points in a 52-28 setback against Ole Miss. The Commodores have turned to AJ Swann as their quarterback, who has thrown for 953 yards and eight touchdowns. Running back Ray Davis leads the rushing attack with 536 yards and four touchdowns. The Commodores only had two running backs available against Georgia, but Cooper Lutz is expected to return this week.
