UAB at Western Kentucky – 10/21/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The UAB Blazers and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers face off on Friday in a college football showdown at Houchens Industries–L. T. Smith Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2020 it was UAB that secured the 37-14 victory. 

Western Kentucky comes into this game with a 4-3 record overall and they were able to secure a victory in the last game. Western Kentucky scored 35 points against Middle Tennessee and that led to the 17 point victory. Under center for Western Kentucky is Austin Reed and he completed 32 of his 49 passes for 278 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Western Kentucky is an elite offensive team and they are averaging 40 points per game which is 17th in the league. Western Kentucky’s defense is giving up 22.7 points per game, and the defense at times can be improved upon. 

On the other side of this matchup is the UAB Blazers who sit with a 4-2 record overall and they are coming off another win in their last game. Against Charlotte the offense scored 34 points, and that was enough to secure the 14 point victory. At the end of the first period, UAB was down 14-7, but the offense found success, especially in the 4th quarter, and secured the victory. Dylan Hopkins completed 15 of his 23 passes for 231 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. UAB on the season is averaging 34.5 points while their defense is giving up 17.3 points per game.
