Purdue vs. Wisconsin Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-22-2022

The Purdue Boilermakers (5-2, 3-4 ATS, 5-2 O/U) take on the Wisconsin Badgers (3-4, 3-4 ATS, 5-2 O/U) in a Big Ten battle on Saturday afternoon. The Boilermakers posted a big home win against Nebraska last week. The Badgers are looking to rebound from a disappointing OT road loss to Michigan State. Wisconsin recorded a 30-13 road win against Purdue last season.

The Purdue Boilermakers continue to shine. They fell at Syracuse in week three and have not lost since, recording four consecutive victories including wins against Minnesota and Maryland. The Boilermakers were 14-point favorites in a 43-37 home win against Nebraska last week to improve to 3-1 in Big Ten action. Their only conference loss was against Penn State in the season opener. Purdue has covered the spread in two of their four conference bouts.

Aidan O’Connell is in a groove. The senior QB has been a machine, recording at least 300 passing yards in three out of his last four bouts including 391 last week. O’Connell has collected 1950 passing yards accompanied by a 14:5 TD to INT ratio.

Devin Mockobee is capable of big yards on the ground. The freshman RB has surpassed 100 yards in two out of his last three games including 178 against Nebraska and now has 453 rushing yards on the season. Charlie Jones has now eclipsed 100 receiving yards four times this season. The senior WR is among the receiving leaders, bringing in a stellar 735 yards. Jones is questionable for an undisclosed reason. The Purdue offense has reached 30 points in three of their four Big Ten games.

The Boilermakers' defense is also a strength. They silenced a Minnesota squad that was ranked at the time and was able to at least contain Maryland. Last week they were decent but had some trouble in the air which has been a common theme this season. The unit ranks 91st against the pass and the rush defense is solid, marking 16th. Purdue is scoring an average of 34 points, landing them 40th. They are conceding an average of 24.1 points, good for 51st in the FBS.
