Texas A&M vs. South Carolina Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-22-2022

The Texas A&M Aggies (3-3, 3-3 ATS, 1-5 O/U) collide with the South Carolina Gamecocks (4-2, 3-3 ATS, 3-3 O/U) in an SEC showdown on Saturday night. The Aggies almost beat #1 Alabama in week six and had their bye last week. The Gamecocks entered their bye with a big road win against a ranked Kentucky squad. Texas A&M posted a 44-14 win against South Carolina last season.

The Texas A&M Aggies have some work to do if they want to climb back into the AP Top 25. They were 3-1 to begin the season highlighted by a win against Miami FL and Arkansas. Next, they dropped a road decision to Mississippi State and were tabbed huge 24-point dogs in a 24-20 road loss to #1 Alabama last week. It was an encouraging performance viewed as a moral victory. They are only 1-2 in SEC play and need wins ASAP. The Aggies have covered the spread in three out of their last four games.

Max Johnson has a broken hand and might be out for the remainder of the season. It was the sophomore, Haynes King starting against Alabama. He played well, collecting 253 passing yards in the defeat. King played in the first game against Sam Houston State as well and has 763 passing yards along with a 5:5 TD to INT ratio on the season. Devon Achane is excelli ng on the ground. The junior RB has surpassed 100 yards in two out of his last three games and now has 528 rushing yards on an average of 5.4 yards per carry. He will probably have a ton of carries against a struggling S.C. rush defense.

Evan Stewart is usually targeted heavily. The freshman WR brought in a remarkable 106 receiving yards against Alabama and now has accrued 303 receiving yards on the season. The Texas A&M offense is below average and is a big reason they are under the .500 mark. They have scored 24 or fewer points in all but one game.

The Aggies' defense is a strength. They have been able to contain several potent offensive units. They held Arkansas to 21 points and Alabama to 397 total yards in their recent game. The secondary is outstanding and they stand 15th in the FBS against the pass. The rush defense is another story, pegging 115th. Texas A&M is scoring an average of 21.5 points, pegging them 110th overall. The defense is limiting opponents to only 18.8 points, good for 21st in the country.
