Oklahoma State had won five straight games before losing at UCF 45-3. When people talk about letdowns, this was likely one as the Cowboys had just defeated rival Oklahoma 27-24 on Nov. 4 and had no real rivalry with Big 12 newcomer UCF. The Knights shut down the Oklahoma State running game (52 yards) and forced Alan Bowman into throwing three interceptions.  The defense couldn't stop John Rhys Plumlee, who threw for 299 yards and three TDs and ran for 74 yards. UCF running back R.J. Harvey also rushed for 206 yards with three TDs. Head coach Mike Gundy was not happy after the loss on Monday:

“We didn’t play good, they played good,” said Gundy. We got caught in a bit of a perfect storm, as soon as they got ahead it started pouring, we couldn’t function offensively. They were still running the ball, their quarterback did some good things and then we got into an all-out, sellout defense and offense and it snowballed on us. But, it’s not like that we’re still not a good football team, we just have to rally and understand the mistakes we made. But also, learn from that and then move forward, and that’s what I told (the players).”

The Cowboys still remain in the hunt for the Big 12 title. Bowman has not had a great season, completing 58% of his passes for 2,139 yards with eight TDs and eight INTs. Ollie Gordon II leads in rushing with 1,249 yards with 12 TDs (6.7ypc). Rashod Owens is tops in receiving yards with 530 (43 catches).

On defense, they allow 435.8 yards per game (122nd) and 255.4 passing yards (115th) with 180.4 rushing yards (116th). On offense, the Cowboys average 418.9 yards per game (44th) with 251.6 passing yards (48th) and 167.3 rushing yards (56th) with 27.9 points per game (67th).
