The Detroit Red Wings face the Minnesota Wild with both teams looking to improve on rough starts. The Red Wings have a 16-14-4 record and with only two wins in their last 10 games, they have fallen to the bottom of the Atlantic Division. The Wild have a 15-13-4 record but with three wins in a row, they have climbed out of the bottom of the Central Division. Both teams are looking to improve in the division and close out the year on a high note and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Red Wings are having a rough season despite possessing one of the league's best offenses, scoring 3.53 goals per game. Dylan Larkin, Alex Debrincat, and Lucas Raymond have scored 37 goals and 50 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Daniel Sprong, J.T. Compher, and Andrew Copp have combined for 20 goals and 37 assists while defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere and Moritz Seider have added 12 goals and 35 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has let them down, allowing 3.32 goals per game including 18 goals in the last four games. Ben Chiarot and Moritz Seider have combined for 2.8 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and easily find open shots on the net. In addition, goaltender James Reimer has struggled wi th a .897 save percentage and a 3.16 goals-against average on 311 shots with -1.8 goals saved above average.
