Big East basketball continues on Wednesday night in New Jersey when the Xavier Musketeers (13-11, 7-6 Big East) travel to take on the Seton Hall Pirates (15-9, 8-5 Big East). Xavier just dropped a home game to #19 Creighton 78-71, losing as just 1.5-point home favorites. Seton Hall just got crushed on the road in Philadelphia, going down to Villanova 80-54 as just 6.5-point underdogs. The Xavier Musketeers were finally gaining some momentum in the Big East, they were on a three game winning streak until Creighton came to visit their home floor. Xavier lost the to 19th ranked Bluejays by seven after winning three consecutive games over St. John's, DePaul and Villanova. The Musketeers are now 7-6 in conference play, and are in 6th out of 11 teams in the Big East standings. Against Creighton, they were led by guard Desmond Claude with 22 points in the loss.

The Musketeers are led in scoring by their 6'3 senior guard Quincy Olivari with 18.9 PPG, which is 2nd in the Big East. He is the top shooter on the team with 74 made threes on a scorching 44.8% shooting clip from the outside. Olivari recently had a monster 43-point game in a win over DePaul. Desmond Claude is a 6'6 sophomore guard that fills up a stat sheet with 16.3 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 3.6 APG. Claude had the 22 point game against Creighton, and put up 23 in a recent win over St. John's. Their third leading scorer also comes out of the backcourt, Dayvion McKnight is a 6'0 senior guard averaging 12.0 PPG and dishes out a team high 5.0 APG. Their top frontcourt player is Abou Ousmane, he is a 6'10, 245-pound senior averaging 7.3 PPG and 6.5 RPG.
Xavier is currently ranked 42nd overall according to KenPom. They rank 64th in offensive efficiency and 29th in defensive efficiency. The Musketeers play fast, they rank 45th i n the nation in tempo based on their pace of play. The Big East is currently projected to get four teams into the NCAA Tournament, but Xavier does not make the cut.
