When Did Coors Field Open?

Home of the Colorado Rockies, Coors Field, opened on April 26, 1995, with a Major League Baseball game that saw the Rockies beat the New York Mets, 11-9.

The stadium has a capacity of 50,144 people, including standing room.

Before Coors Field, Mile High Stadium was home to the Rockies for the 1993 and strike-shortened 1994 MLB seasons, the first two years after the team’s founding. It acted as the home field for the Denver Broncos (NFL) and Colorado Rapids (MLS) until its closure on Sept. 8, 2001. Demolition of Mile High Stadium ran from January to April 2002.
