Angel Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Angels, opened on April 19, 1966, with a Major League Baseball game that saw the Rockies beat the New York Mets, 11-9.
The stadium has a capacity of 45,517 people. It also houses the studios and offices of the Angels’ owned and operated flagship radio station, KLAA (830 AM).
The Angels played their inaugural season of 1961 at Los Angeles’ Wrigley Field, then spent four seasons (1962-1965) renting Dodger Stadium from the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Angels referred to Dodger Stadium as Chavez Ravine Stadium during the years they were renting it to avoid constantly referring to their rivals.
