The West Virginia Mountaineers are seeking just their third conference win. West Virginia posted a minor 69-65 upset home win against Cincinnati late last month but has since dropped two games in a row. They did not cover in an 86-73 home loss against BYU last week and were 13-point dogs in a 94-58 road loss against Texas on Saturday to dip to 3-7 in conference play. The Mountaineers have covered in just one of their last five games.

Raquan Battle is slumping in recent games, shooting below 40% in five straight clashes. The senior guard is now averaging 15.2 PPG on a 39% mark from the field. Jesse Edwards has scored at least 15 points in three straight bouts. The senior center is outstanding defensively and has issued an average of 15 PPG. Quinn Slazinski has been a bright spot recently, shooting at least 55% in three of his last five games. The senior forward only netted six points on Saturday and has an average of 13 PPG on 40% shooting.

The Mountaineers are ranked 140th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and have yet to win on the road this season where they are 0-5. West Virginia is scoring an average of 68 points, ranking them 315th. They have allowed at least 70 in all but one conference game, and are conceding an average of 73.7 points, pegging them 239th.
