Everyone knows FanDuel is the top mobile betting app when it comes to handle and revenue in New York, and now there are some additional numbers to bring that dominance into focus.
Recently, the New York State Gaming Commission provided its first glimpse of mobile sports wagering handle by sport category, offering accepted wager amounts for NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball, and college football in 2023. The figures themselves were somewhat surprising in the sense that while the NFL is considered to be the market that moves wagering in general like no other, the actual handle put it behind the NBA and MLB. The $11.07 billion in combined handle from the four major sport categories accounted for nearly 58% of the $19.1 billion worth of digital wagers placed in New York in 2023.
