A pair of mid-major programs collide on the college hardwood as two schools from the Buckeye State meet as the MAC tangles with the Horizon League. The Toledo Rockets are on the road as they make the short trip to take on the Wright State Raiders Tuesday night. Toledo comes in off an 87-78 win over Louisiana at home Saturday, covering the line as a 7.5-point favorite. Wright State was drubbed 105-77 on the road by Colorado State in their season opener Friday night, failing to cover the line as a 10.5-point underdog. In the all-time series between the programs, Wright State owns an 8-6 advantage and has won the last three meetings. That includes a 79-72 road win in the most recent matchup on December 21, 2019.

Toledo took care of business at home against Louisiana Saturday to remain unbeaten on the young season. The Rockets enter this game 2-0 overall and look to snap that three-game slide in the head-to-head series with the Raiders in this contest. Against Louisiana, Toledo trailed most of the way before rallying late to earn the victory. The Rockets were down 45-34 at the half and trailed by as many as 16 with 12:41 remaining before staging a rally. Toledo was still down nine with 7:24 to go before reeling off a 19-4 run that gave them an 80-74 advantage with 38 seconds left en route to the win. The Rockets shot a hot 57.1% from the floor, including three of nine from beyond the arc, and forced 18 turnovers to offset Louisiana shooting 54.1% in the game. Tyler Cochran led Toledo with 18 points off the bench in the victory.

The Rockets are tied for 45th in the nation in scoring offense by putt ing up 90.5 points per contest this season. Toledo is 339th in rebounding by collecting 29.5 rebounds per contest while the team is 65th by dishing out 17.5 assists per game. The Rockets are average defensively as they are 174th in scoring defense by allowing 69 points per game. Ra’Heim Moss leads the team as he averages 15.5 points plus 6.5 rebounds per game on the season. Tyler Cochran (13.5 points), Dante Maddox Jr. (10.5 points, 3.5 assists), Javan Simmons (10.5 points) and Sonny Wilson (10 points) are solid secondary scoring options. Andre Lorentsson, Bryce Ford, Sam Lewis, Ben Wight and Grgur Brcic are all key pieces in the rotation for coach Tod Kowalczyk. Toledo is shooting 53.8% from the field as a team on the season, which is 23rd in the nation. The Rockets are knocking down 8.4 three-pointers a game while hitting a blistering 51.7% from beyond the arc, which is 1st in the nation. Toledo is above average at the free throw line, hitting 75.5% from the charity stripe on the season.
