Toledo vs. Buffalo Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-22-2022

This Saturday, the (5-2) Toledo Rockets and the (4-3) Buffalo Bulls will match up in the eighth week of the 2022 college football season. Kickoff will be at 1:00 PM EST inside UB Stadium. Both of these teams are coming into this one on impressive winning streaks, as only one of them will be able to come out on top in this one.

The Rockets are coming into this one after taking down Kent State, 52-31. Toledo's offense was cooking in that one, as they continued to efficiently move the ball up and down the field. That was also their third straight win, as they will be looking to stay hot.

The Bulls are entering this one after defeating UMass, 34-7. They looked great on both sides of the ball, as they continued to score and their defense looked great. They will need to carry that momentum over into this one if they want to challenge the Toledo Rockets at home. They have also won four games in a r ow, and they will be going for five straight.

The Toledo Rockets have now won multiple games in a row, as they look to be finding their groove on the offensive side of the ball. They have scored 52 points in back-to-back games, as they are efficiently moving the ball down the field. They are currently scoring 38.4 points per game and averaging 403.1 total yards per game. This is the 22nd most points scored and the 68th most total yards averaged per game. I expect them to start Dequan Finn in this one, as the sophomore quarterback has looked solid this season. He has already thrown 17 touchdowns and only five interceptions. He also threw for 263 yards and six touchdowns last week, as he will be coming into this game with confidence. The Rockets are also throwing for 209 yards per game, which is the 106th most in the nation. They will look to lean on their rushing attack, as they are running for 193.2 rushing yards per game, which is the 32nd most. I would recommend watching for Finn, Ja cquez Stuart, and Peny Boone, as these three have continued to efficiently move the ball on the ground. Finn leads the team with 455 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns and Stuart and Boone have combined for five more touchdowns.

On defense, the Rockets have shown that they can stop the pass, but they have struggled to stop their opponents rushing attacks. They are currently surrendering 26.3 points per game and 259 total yards, as this is the 68th most points given up and the 49th most yards allowed per game. Their secondary has also been the strongest part of this defense, as they are only allowing 194.4 passing yards per game. This is the 27th least amount of yards allowed through the air, as they have continued to lock up on the outside. Watch for Nate Bauer, as he has already recorded 33 tackles this season and one interception. He has also recorded nine tackles in back-to-back games. Now, the Rockets are also surrendering 164.6 rushing yards per gam e, as they have struggled against the run. This is the 91st most yards allowed on the ground, as their front seven has struggled to clog the middle and they have continued to miss tackles this season.
