North Texas vs. UTSA Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-22-2022

The North Texas Mean Green (4-3, 4-3 ATS, 5-2 O/U) meet with the UTSA Roadrunners (5-2, 3-4 ATS, 5-2 O/OU) in a C-USA battle on Saturday afternoon. The Mean Green defeated LA Tech in their latest action. The Roadrunners stayed hot by clobbering FIU last week. North Texas recorded a convincing 45-23 home win against UTSA last season.

The North Texas Mean Green are seeking a third straight win. They recently lost two in a row and rebounded nicely with a blowout win against FAU, and followed with a convincing 47-27 home win against LA Tech in a bout that had UNT labeled as 6.5 point favorites. The Mean Green are now a perfect 3-0 in C-USA play which included a win against UTEP. They have covered the spread in three consecutive games. 

Austin Aune is having a solid year. The junior QB doesn’t attempt many passes, attempting just 20 passes in two straight games but he is still a threat. Aune has 1692 passing yards accompanied by a strong 17:8 TD to INT ratio on the season. UNT will run often. They have two RBs capable of big damage. Ayo Adeyi has eclipsed 100 rushing yards twice this season and now has 557 rushing yards. Oscar Adaway III rushed for 113 yards last week and has a ccrued 528 rushing yards. Roderic Burns was quiet in last week’s victory but leads the squad with 402 receiving yards. The North Texas offense has scored at least 34 points in three straight games. 

The Mean Green defense is a work in progress. They have not been able to contain their opponents and rely on the offense to win games. Last week was one of their better performances but still allowed 504 total yards. The pass defense ranks 123rd while the rush defense is 105th. North Texas is scoring an average of 36.1 points, good for 28th in the FBS. They are conceding an average of 35 points, positioning them 119th.
