Tigers vs Royals Prediction & Pick

Even though this series has been relatively close, don't count on the home team getting another win. After all, the Royals have rarely beaten a team twice in the same series, doing so just once since May 19 – a span of 51 games.

It also doesn't help that the Royals are at a disadvantage when it comes to pitching. Starter Zack Greinke has been allergic to victory, going 1-9 with a 5.44 ERA in 18 previous starts. He hasn't won a start since May 3 and has allowed six-plus runs in two of his latest three appearances.

Meanwhile, Michael Lorenzen has been a consistent mound presence for the Tigers. Not only is he 2-2 with a 2.60 ERA in his previous five starts, but Lorenzen also hasn't allowed a single run in his two appearances (11 2/3 innings).

The Tigers shouldn't have an excuse not to win today. On top of the pitching advantage being on their side, they're 9-3 SU in their last 12 meetings with the Royals for a reason. Kansas City is one of the MLB's worst clubs and Greinke starting only makes it more difficult to win.

After two wins in three days, look for the Tigers to add another W to their record.

Final Score Prediction:'Tigers: 5 | Royals: 2

Tigers vs Royals Best Bet

Even with this game being at Kauffman Stadium I like the Tigers covering the spread today. For starters, the Royals are just 13-22 against the spread (ATS) against AL clubs at home this season. At the same time, the Tigers are 27-23 ATS overall on the road.

Additionally, the Royals have been outscored by an average of seven runs in Greinke's last nine starts, losing by a multi-run margin six times. If the veteran arm doesn't get off to a strong start, Detroit won't struggle to create a notable deficit.
