After dropping their opener, 71-66, to Little Rock on the road, the Texas State Bobcats bounced back in a big way with an impressive 10-point win over Miami (OH) on the road on Saturday. The Bobcats led wire-to-wire to pick up a quality road win over Miami. In fact, it was the team's first win against a MAC opponent on the road in school history. Texas State was led by Tyrel Morgan with 19 points, including 17 points in the first half. Morgan hit all three of his 3-point attempts in the game while also pulling down a team-high eight rebounds. Kaden Gumbs chipped in with 14 points and three assists while Brandon Love dropped 13 points in the historic win.

“I'm proud of my guys. It's a very well coached team and the guys were up, energetic, and ready to compete,” said head coach Terrence Johnson. “We always talk about how much it's about the response and I think that our guys responded today.”

Texas State now plays their third consecutive road game and this one will be its most challenging as the Bobcats take on the Big 12's Oklahoma Sooners. Texas State will try to win the game with its defense. They return three starters from last season's 16-win team. The Bobcats were 69th in the nation in points allowed per game. They were also impressive at protecting the basketball, ranked 79th in the nation. They did, however, struggle with the 3-point shot. Shooting it, the Bobcats were just 314th in the nation and defending it, they were just 310th in the country.
