Tampa Bay was blanked for the second straight game as they were stifled by St. Louis on the road in their previous contest. The Lightning entered Wednesday tied for fifth in the Atlantic Division with a 6-6-4 record, leaving them 10 points behind the Bruins for the top spot. Tampa Bay went into Wednesday 15th in the league in goals per game as they put up an average of 3.31 goals per contest. The Lightning stands 28th in goals against by allowing 3.69 goals per game. Tampa Bay is 4th with the man advantage as they cash in on 30.2% of their chances with the man advantage this season.
