The offense has been great but the defense has let them down, allowing 3.30 goals per game including eight goals in the last two games. Victor Hedman and Nicklaus Perbix have combined for 5.4 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and easily find open shots on the net. In addition, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy has struggled with a .901 save percentage and a 2.79 goals-against average on 780 shots with -2.2 goals saved above average.
