We have a non-conference matchup between the St. Louis Blues and the Florida Panthers on Thursday evening at the FLA Live Arena. The Blues are fourth in the Central Division (10-9-0, 20 points) and are on the second leg of a back-to-back against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Panthers are sixth in the Atlantic Division (10-8-2, 22 points) and are coming off a 5-2 home win over the Bost on Bruins on Wednesday.

The St. Louis Blues have been playing extremely well and are coming off a 6-2 road loss against the Montreal Canadiens last time out. Left winger Pavel Buchnevich led the team as he was able to finish with a goal in the game. As a team, they scored 2 goals on 36 shots, despite winning just 46.2 percent of their faceoffs. They were also 1-for-3 on power play attempts. Defensively, they struggled as they gave up 2 goals on 3 power play opportunities. Jordan Binnington had a terrible game as he gave up 6 goals on 32 shot attempts so he needs to bounce back next time he’s out there.

This offense has been below average to begin the season as they are 25th in the NHL with 55 goals scored thus far. They have a bunch of players stepping up, including center Brenden Schenn as he has 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) to begin the season and is dominant on the ice. Defensively, they are average as they are 17th in the league with 65 goals conceded as well. They have a great overall roster that is buying in together so they need to continue playing as a unit and they will be in a great spot.
