We have a non-Conference matchup between the Calgary Flames and the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday evening at PNC Arena. The Flames are fourth in the Pacific Division (9-8-3, 21 points) while the Hurricanes are fourth in the Metropolitan Division (10-6-5, 25 points) and both teams are on the second leg of a back-to-back. This will also be their second and final game against one anot her in the regular season as the Flames picked up a 3-2 overtime home win back on October 22.

The Calgary Flames have been playing extremely well, but are coming off a 3-0 road loss against the Washington Capitals last time out. Center Nazim Kadri led the team as he was able to finish with five shots. As a team, they scored zero goals on 32 shots, despite winning 50 percent of their faceoffs. They were also 0-for-2 on power play attempts. Defensively, they did a decent job as they allowed one goal on two power play opportunities. Jacob Markstrom had a decent game as he gave up three goals on 25 shot attempts so he needs to continue playing well.

This offense has been stagnant this season as they are 20th in the NHL with 59 goals scored thus far. They have a bunch of players stepping up, including center Elias Lindholm as he has 16 p oints (six goals, 10 assists) to begin the season and is dominant on the ice. Defensively, they are average as they are 15th in the league with 62 goals conceded as well. They have a great overall roster that is buying in together so they need to continue playing as a unit and they will be in a great spot.
