San Francisco vs. Pacific Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-16-2023

San Francisco Dons (16-12) vs. Pacific Tigers (13-14)

The 2022-23 NCAA men’s basketball season continues Thursday, February 16, with the San Francisco Dons taking on the Pacific Tigers in the West Coast Conference showdown at Alex G. Spanos Center in Stockton, California.

The Dons and Tigers lock horns for the second time this season, and San Francisco aims for its third straight victory over Pacific. Back in January, San Francisco routed Pacific 78-57 as an 11-point home fave, and the game went under a 152.5-point line. The Dons are 4-point road favorites with a total of 157.5 points this time around.

The San Francisco Dons (16-12; 5-8 conf.) are coming off Saturday’s 88-80 home victory over Pepperdine. After three straight losses against No. 18 Saint Mary’s 68-59, Santa Clara 84-70, and No. 16 Gonzaga 99-81, the Dons erased a 15-point deficit versus the Waves but ultimately failed to cover a 9-point spread.

San Francisco shot 50.0% from the field against Pepperdine’s leaky defense. The Dons went 10-for-29 from downtown and 18-for-24 from beyond the arc while posting a 12/12 assist-to-turnover ratio. Senior guard Tyrell Roberts went off for a season-high 32 points on 11-for-16 shooting from the field, while fellow senior G Khalil Shabazz had 17 points, three rebounds, and four steals.

The Dons lead the West Coast Conference in triples made per game (10.0) and are third in 3-point percentage (38.1%). On the flip side, they are dead last in the conference play in assists (9.7 per game) and free throws allowed (19.0). Per KenPom, the Dons score 109.1 points per 100 possessions (98th in the country) and surrender 103.0 points in return (130th). San Francisco is No. 105 in the KenPom rankings and No. 116 in the NCAA NET Rankings.
