Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Championship Sunday
The second-seeded San Francisco 49ers will try to extend their 12-game winning streak and punch their ticket to the Super Bowl when they face the No. 1 Philadelphia Eagles in the 2023 NFC Championship. San Francisco picked up a 41-23 win over Seattle in the wild-card round before beating Dallas by a touchdown last weekend. Philadelphia used its bye week to prepare for its divisional-round game against New York, cruising to a 38-7 win last Saturday.
San Francisco has been the hottest team in the NFL over the past three months, extending its winning streak to 12 games with a 19-12 win over Dallas last weekend. The 49ers held the Cowboys to just one touchdown and two field goals while picking off quarterback Dak Prescott twice, forcing at least two turnovers for the eighth time in 10 games. They will now be trying to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl for the second time in the past four seasons on Sunday night. Seventh-round rookie quarterback Brock Purdy became the third rookie in league history to win his first two postseason starts, and he has now gone unbeaten in seven career starts.

The 49ers opened the season with Trey Lance at quarterback, but he was replaced by Jimmy Garoppolo after suffering an ankle injury. Garoppolo went down with a foot injury, giving Purdy a chance to take over. He threw for 200-plus yards without an interception for the second consecutive week in the win over Dallas, while Elijah Mitchell and Christian McCaffrey combined to run for 86 yards on 24 carries. Mitchell is dealing with a groin injury and McCaffrey suffered a calf contusion, but they are both expected to play on Sunday. They are facing a Philadelphia defense which ranked second in total defense during the regular season. The Eagles have tallied 75 sacks, marking the third most in league history behind the 84’ Bears and the 85’ Bears.
