New York’s nine mobile sportsbooks produced another accomplishment Thursday, surpassing $3 billion in operator sports betting'revenue after the state’s gaming commission reported more than $47.5 million in adjusted gross revenue for the week ending Jan. 21.
The Empire State joined neighboring New Jersey as the only states with $3 billion in total revenue last month with a record $189.3 billion haul in December. New York’s betting apps reached the milestone in 107 weeks after launching in January 2022. Last week’s winnings ranked seventh overall but were nearly $20 million less than the record $67.3 million claimed by the nine operators for the week ending Jan. 14.
Last week’s handle of $490.7 million was sixth-highest, spurred by the NFL divisional round playoffs. It was the fifth weekly handle to slot into the top 20 all-time in the last six weeks and marked a 10.1% increase from the week ending Jan. 14. The 9.7% hold was 5.4 percentage points lower than the 15.1% win rate fashioned Jan. 14 that was #2 all-time.
All nine operators finished with positive AGR, which would provide more than $24.2 million worth of estimated taxes based on New York’s 51% rate on mobile revenue.
