New Mexico State vs. Middle Tennessee State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-15-2024

The New Mexico State Aggies are on the road as they travel to take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Thursday night. New Mexico State was drubbed 74-49 on the road by UTEP in their previous contest Saturday, failing to cover the line as a 5.5-point underdog. Middle Tennessee edged Florida International 68-66 on the road in their previous game Saturday, winning outright as a two-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Aggies own a 5-3 advantage, including a 73-62 win at home in the first meeting this season on January 20.

New Mexico State was walloped on the road by UTEP in their previous contest Saturday, snapping their two-game win streak in the process. The Aggies fell to 11-13 overall and stand fourth in the Conference USA standings with a 5-4 mark on the year. Against UTEP, New Mexico State found themselves down 12-0 less than five minutes into the game and never recovered. The Aggies were down eight points at the half and didn’t get closer than six in the second half while trailing by as many as 27 en route to the loss. New Mexico State shot 34.6% from the field, including two of 19 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 48-33 in the game. Jaden Harris led the Aggies with 20 points in the loss as the lone player in double figures.

For the season, the Aggies are 301st in the nation in scoring offense as they average 68.9 points per game. New Mexico State collects an average of 34.7 rebounds a night while dishing an average of 11.4 assists per contest. The Aggies are 174th in the nation in scoring defense as they give up an average of 71.6 points per game. Femi Odukale is one of two players for the Aggies averaging in double figures as he puts up 10.7 points and six rebounds per game. Christian Cook (10 points) and Robert Carpenter (9.7 points) are good secondary scoring options. Jordan Rawls, Kaosi Ezeagu, Brandon Suggs, Jaylin Jackson-Posey, Jaden Harris, Clarence Jackson, Tanahj Pettway, Keylon Dorsey and Jonathan Kanyanga are looked at to contribute on both ends of the floor. New Mexico State is shooting 42.3% from the field as a team this season. The Aggies are connecting on 6.4 three-pointers a night while sinking 32.8% of their attempts from beyond the arc. N ew Mexico State is below average at the charity stripe as they convert 70.7% of their attempts this season.

Carpenter (suspension) last played on February 1 and is out indefinitely. Suggs (undisclosed) last played on January 27 and is questionable for this contest.
