In the all-time series between the programs, the Beach owns a 26-13 advantage but the Aggies earned a 93-92 overtime win at home in the most recent meeting on March 4, 2023.

The Beach saw the Mustangs tie the game multiple times in the second half, the last time at 63 with 3:07 to play in the game. Long Beach State scored the next four points to trigger a game-closing 14-5 run to earn the victory. The Beach shot 43.9% from the field, including seven of 19 from three-point range, and forced 18 turnovers in the contest. Jadon Jones led Long Beach State with 26 points in the win.
