N.Y. Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-23-2023

The New York Rangers (41-20-8-2, 35-36 PL, 32-37 O/U) collide with the Carolina Hurricanes (46-15-6-2, 30-39 PL, 31-36 O/U) in a Metro division showdown on Thursday evening. The Rangers and Hurricanes met at MSG on Tuesday night in a game the Hurricanes won by a 3-2 score. The Rangers lead the season series 2-1.

The New York Rangers are battling for positioning in the competitive Metro. They were making ground on the Devils but now trail the rivals by six points and the Hurricanes by eight points for the #1 seed in the division. New York has been hot. They had a four-game winning streak erased in Tuesday’s narrow defeat. The Rangers are 6-3-1 in their last ten games.

The Rangers will likely have Igor Shesterkin guard the cage. The Vezina winner hasn’t been as dominant as last year but has strong numbers, posting a 2.58 GAA and a strong .913 save % to go with a 32-11-7 record.  Backup Jaroslav Halak has a 2.67 GAA and a .905 save %. New York is scoring an average of 3.4 goals, marking them 11th. They are conceding an average of 2.7 goals, placing them seventh.
