Chicago Blackhawks vs. Washington Capitals Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-23-2023

The Chicago Blackhawks face the Washington Capitals with both teams looking to rebound from rough losses. The Blackhawks have a 24-40-6 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games, they have the second-worst record in the Western Conference. The Capitals have a 33-31-8 record and with three losses in a row, have fallen to sixth place in the Metropolitan Division and multiple points behind the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Both teams are looking to rebound in their conferences and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Blackhawks are having a season to forget with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.47 goals per game with only two goals in the last two games. Taylor Raddysh, Andreas Athanasiou, and Philipp Kurashev have scored 43 goals and 42 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only three active players have scored 10 goals or more and opponents can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has also been a disappointment, allowing 3.53 goals per game including allowing nine goals in the last two games. Connor Murphy and Seth Jones have combined for 5.4 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The one bright spot has been the play of goaltender Alex Stalock who has a .915 save percentage and a 2.84 goals-against average on 626 shots with 6.9 goals saved abov e average.
