Montreal Canadiens vs. Buffalo Sabres Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-27-2023

The Montreal Canadiens face the Buffalo Sabres with both teams looking to end difficult seasons on a high note. The Canadiens have a 29-38-6 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games, they have the worst record in the Atlantic Division. The Sabres have a 35-31-6 record but with back-to-back wins are looking to make a late-season push for the playoffs. Both teams look to improve in the Atlantic Division to close out the season and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Canadiens are having a season to forget with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.84 goals per game. Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach have scored 37 goals and 62 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only six active skaters have 10 goals or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has let them down this year, allowing 3.67 goals per game with 22 goals in the last five games. Johnathan Kovacevic and Mike Matheson have combined for 5.0 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Jake Allen has struggled with a .891 save percentage and a 3.57 goals-against average on 1302 shots with -17.2 goals saved above average.
