The Mississippi State Bulldogs are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Missouri Tigers Saturday night. Mississippi State earned a 75-62 home win over Georgia Wednesday night in their previous contest, covering the line as an 8.5-point favorite. Missouri was rolled 79-60 at home by Texas A&M in their previous game Wednesday night, failing to cover the line as a 5.5-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Bulldogs own a 13-6 edge though it was Missouri earning a 66-64 overtime win at home in the first matchup on February 21, 2023.

Mississippi State had dropped two straight and three of their previous four games before taking down Georgia at home in their previous game Wednesday night. The Bulldogs improved to 15-8 overall and stand tied for 10th in the SEC with a 4-6 mark in conference play. Against Georgia, Mississippi State jumped in front 8-3 early and held the lead the rest of the way as they maintained the advantage. The Bulldogs held an eight-point lead at the half and saw Georgia climb within three with 6:21 remaining before reeling off eight straight points to go in front 64-53 with 4:30 to play en route to the victory. Mississippi State shot 41.7% from the floor, including nine of 28 from three-point range, and held a 43-33 advantage on the boards in the win. Tolu Smith led the Bulldogs with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.

The Bulldogs are 185th in the nation in scoring average with 74.2 points per game on the season. Mississippi State is 39th in rebounding by collecting 39.5 boards per contest and hand out 14.9 dimes per game, which is 86th in the nation. The Bulldogs have been excellent on the defensive end, ranking 88th in scoring defense by allowing an average of 68.1 points per game. Tolu Smith leads the team in scoring as he puts up 17.1 points plus eight rebounds a night. Josh Hubbard is the next player in line in the scoring department as he puts up 14.8 points a night. Jeffries, Dashawn Davis, Trey Fort, KeShawn Murphy, Shawn Jones Jr., Andrew Taylor and Gai Chol are all looked at for solid minutes in coach Chris Jans’ rotation. Mississippi State is shooting 44.7% from the floor as a team on the year. The Bulldogs are knocking down 7.3 triples per game while shootin g 31.3% from beyond the arc. Mississippi State has been below average at the free throw line this season, hitting 68.5% of their chances, leaving them just 291st in the nation.

Jeffries (leg) was injured against Alabama February 3 and is out indefinitely. Fort (thumb) last played on January 27 and is questionable for this contest.
