George Mason has lost three straight games and six of their last eight games. Former coach Kim English is now in Providence and took three key players with him including Josh Oduro (15.6ppg, 7.9rpg LY). Under first-year coach and former player Tony Skinn, the Patriots have been on a roller-coaster to the point that they started the season on a tremendous run at 13-2. They opened up A-10 play with wins over La Salle and Saint Louis, but since then, have lost six of eight games. After losing at St. Joe's and UMass by a combined three points, GMU fell to Loyola-Chicago 85-79 on Feb. 7 at home as a 4.5-point favorite. Mason led 44-36 at the half and shot 59.5% from the field. They also outrebounded the Ramblers 28-18, but they led in the wrong category to lead-turnovers (17-6).

GMU is ranked 102nd overall and 89th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency. Keyshawn Hall (6-7), a UNLV transfer, leads the Patriots in scoring with 17.3 points and 8.7 rebounds on 49% shooting (32.6% 3pt). Darius Maddox, a Virginia Tech transfer, adds 13.8 points and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting 41.1% from long range. In basic stats, George Mason allows 67.8 points per game on 40.3% shooting (28th) and 35.2% from three-point range (296th). Three-point defense is a problem, though three-point offense is pretty good (35.7%). They shoot it well overall, making 46.7% of their shots.
