The Miami Marlins will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday at Chase Field. First pitch from Phoenix, AZ, is at 6:40 p.m. PT.

Miami (17-18 SU and 12-23 RL) will start lefty Jesús Luzardo tomorrow evening. The 25-year-old is 2-2 with a 3.66 ERA in seven starts this season.

Arizona (19-15 SU and 19-15 RL) will counter with righty Brandon Pfaadt. The 24-year-old is 0-0 with a 13.50 ERA in one start.

The Diamondbacks are -115 moneyline favorites and the game total is nine.

Miami has dropped consecutive series and five of its last six games overall. The Marlins are in a second-place tie with the Mets in the NL East, though, with the Phillies just a game behind them. How soon will one of these teams separate from the pack?

It's hit 30 long balls (24th) and stolen 29 bases (7th) this year. 2B Luis Arraez leads the squad in hits (47), batting average (.420), and OBP (.476), while DH Jorge Soler paces the team in home runs (7) and RBI (15). The Marlins pitching staff has posted a 4.59 ERA (19th) and a 1.36 WHIP (22nd) with eight quality starts.

Luzardo will get the start Tuesday for the visitors. He's been mostly reliable this season but is coming off a losing effort in his last start against Atlanta (three earned runs on seven hits and three walks in 5.2 innings). The southpaw has surrendered at least one long ball in three consecutive starts and four of the last five.
