McNeese State at Houston – 12/21/22 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The McNeese State Cowboys will cross the state line and take on the Houston Cougars in non-conference action this Wednesday from the Fertitta Center on ESPN+. Houston has won both previous matchups.

McNeese State fell to 3-9 after losing to Southern Miss in Hattiesburg. The Cowboys were out-scored by USM in both halves, and dropped to 1-6 on the road. McNeese State is scoring 64.6 points per game, while allowing 74.4 ppg, and shooting 41.5% from the field. Sophomore guard Trae English leads the team in scoring (12.3), while fellow second-year player Christian Shumate is averaging a double-double at 10.8 ppg and 10.2 rpg. 

Houston improved to 6-0 with a win over Kent State over the weekend. The Cougars found themselves in the ultimate slugfest, holding the Golden Flashes to 23% shooting, but only escaping with a 49-44 victory, and failing to cover for the first time this season. Houston is scoring 73.5 points per game, while allowing 50.3 ppg, and shooting 46.5% from the floor.
