The UMass Minutemen men's basketball team keeps heading down the coast to take on South Florida after claiming their first in-season tournament title since 2013 after taking three straight games, including the finale against Charlotte, to win the Myrtle Beach Invitational championship. The win wrapped up a Thanksgiving weekend feast that included wins over Colorado, Murray State and finally Charlotte to bring home the title. Noah Fernandes took home the tournament MVP with three stellar performances over the weekend. On Sunday, it was Matt Cross that led the well-balanced Minutemen with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. UMass would end the win over Charlotte with five players scoring eight or more points in the game. UMass would finish 7-of-13 from long range in the championship game.

UMass has now won three-straight games after starting the season 1-1. Offensively, the team is ranked 152nd in efficiency this season and is ranked 193rd in the nation in scoring and 222nd in shooting percentage. They are shooting nearly 40% from 3pt range and have a +3.6 average rebounding differential thus far. They have a slight disadvantage in turnovers, forcing 12.8 a game while committing 13 per contest. UMass is allowing 65 points per game to give them a +4 point differential on the season.
