Indiana was dropped 112-100 on the road by Memphis Sunday in their previous game, failing to cover as an eight-point underdog. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Lakers own a 63-34 advantage but the Pacers have taken the last two meetings. That includes a 116-115 road win in the first matchup this season on November 28, 2022.

Los Angeles managed to survive a double-overtime affair with the Knicks on the road in the second game of a back-to-back to improve to 1-2 on this five-game road swing. The Lakers entered Wednesday 24-28 on the season, leaving them last in the Pacific Division, 5.5 games behind the Kings for the top spot. They were 13th in the Western Conference playoff picture, 11.5 games behind Denver for the top spot, three back of Dallas for the final guaranteed spot and two games back of the Pelicans for the final spot in the play-in tournament. Against the Knicks, the Lakers led by 10 early, saw their lead trimmed to five after the opening quarter and they trailed by one at the half. Los Angeles rallied to lead by three after three quarters only to see New York force overtime. In the extra session, the Lakers broke a 118-118 tie with a 7-0 run to go up 125-118 with 1:17 to play and went on to the win. Los Angeles shot 51.6% from the field, including 11 of 33 from three-point range, and held the Knicks to 44.9% shooting in the game. LeBron James led the Lakers with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in the win.

The Lakers are 5th in the league in scoring offense as they put up an average of 117 points per game. Los Angeles is 6th in rebounding with 45 boards per contest and 16th in assists with 25 per game. The Lakers stand 27th in the league in scoring defense as they allow 118.3 points per night. LeBron James is leading the team with 30.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.1 assists per contest this season. Anthony Davis contributes 26.8 points, 11.9 rebounds and two blocks a night while Russell Westbrook chips in 15.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 7.5 assists per contest. Lonnie Walker IV (14.2 points) is also averaging in double figures. Thomas Bryant (12.6 points, seven rebounds), Dennis Schroder (12.2 points, 3.9 assists), Rui Hachimura, Troy Brown Jr., Patrick Beverley, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Wenyen Gabriel, Damion Jones and Austin Reaves (10.8 points) are looked to contribute for coach Darvin Ham. The Lakers are 9th in the league in field goal percentage as they shoot 48.1% from the floor as a team. Los Angeles is 30th in the league with 10.5 triples per game while standing 26th in three-point shooting by shooting a putrid 33.7% from downtown.

Beverley (knee) missed Tuesday’s game while Reaves (hamstring) last played on January 4 against the Heat. He is slated to be reevaluated Thursday so watch for any updates regarding either player leading to tip-off.
