It's been a while since anyone has seen Victor Martinez in a fight as he last competed on Dana White's Contender Series back in September of 2021. He earned win over Jacob Rosales (unanimous decision) and is now set to make his UFC debut against an experienced fighter in Jordan Leavitt.
Leavitt has posted a 3-2-0 record across five UFC fights, most recently losing to Paddy Pimblett via submission in July of 2022. The 27-year-old southpaw averages a dependable 2.43 takedowns per 15 minutes, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him turn this bo ut into a ground battle right away.
Leavitt has won one bout via knockout in his career, but has won six bouts via submission. He is an elite grappler and gets to face a fighter on Saturday that owns an 0-2 record in bouts decided via submission. Martinez is going to be in trouble if he cannot assert his striking dominance early on.

It leaves Leavitt via submission and Martinez via knockout as the two likeliest outcomes. I'll side with experience here and opt for the former of the two options.
What's exciting about Leavitt's submission capabilities is that they are flexible. He doesn't rely on one move as he has already won professional fights with a triangle choke, anaconda choke, heel hook and guillotine choke. It'd be shocking to see Martinez defend Leavitt's versatile ground game on Saturday.
