The Illinois State Redbirds are on the road on Saturday afternoon to take on the Missouri State Bears in Missouri Valley Conference action inside Great Southern Bank Arena. The Redbirds (8-10, 2-5 in MVC) are on a six-game losing streak after a 77-56 home loss against the Drake Bulldogs on Wednesday. The Bears (10-8, 2-5) are coming off an 88-66 road loss on Tuesday against the Indiana State Sycamores.

The Illinois State Redbirds are coming off a 77-56 home loss against the Drake Bulldogs and it does not help scoring 43 points in the first half of the game. The Redbirds did a decent job offensively as they were 18-of-47 (38.3 percent) from the floor, 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) from the three-point line and 20 free-throw attempts. Senior guard Darius Burford stepped up as he played 24 minutes and finished with 14 points, two rebounds, two assists, one steal and four turnovers. The defense was brutal as Drake went 55.9% from the field, 42.1% from deep and six shots at the charity stripe.

However, their defense has been doing a lot better as they are holding their opponents to 69.1 points per game allowed, which is 114th in college basketball.
