Houston at SMU Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/16/23

The Houston Cougars will head up to Dallas to face the SMU Mustangs in AAC play from the Moody Coliseum on ESPN2. Houston leads the all-time series, 57-34, after winning eight of the last ten meetings.

Houston improved to 23-2 after picking apart Tulsa at home. The Cougars held the Golden Hurricane to just 18 first half points, and they’d pour it on to pick up the 38-point victory, 80-42. Houston is scoring 75.6 points per game, while allowing 54.9 ppg, and shooting 47.1% from the field. 

Houston put another 30-point beating on Tulsa, and they’ll now look to close the season strong and raise the conference crown. The Cougars are 11-1 in AAC play, with a 8-1 record on the road this season. Senior guard Marcus Sasser went off for a game-high 25 points in the win over Tulsa, and he’s up a team-lead 16.4 ppg. Freshman forward Jarace Walker has scored 23 points in the win over Temple last week, and he’s second on the team in scoring (11.5) and rebounding (6.5). Veteran point guard Jamal Shead double-doubled against UCF, and he’s averaging 9.2 ppg and a team-lead 5.6 apg. Third-year Cougs Tramon Mark (9.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg) and J’Wan Roberts (9.8?ppg, 7.0 rpg) round out the starting five.
