Hitter Prop Prediction 1: Austin Riley
Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley posted a .281 batting average during the regular season while collecting 37 home runs, 97 RBI and 117 runs scored across 704 plate appearances.
He is 2-8 (.250) with a home run and two RBI in two postseason games while clearing 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI in one of those games.
Riley does have a lengthy and successful track record against Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola, going an impressive 21-54 (.389) with five home runs, five doubles and nine RBI.
Nola finished the regular season with a 12-9 record, 4.46 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 202 strikeouts across 193.2 innings pitched. He was absolutely brilliant in his Wild Card start against the Miami Marlins, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing only three hits and a walk.
However, Riley isn’t the only Atlanta slugger to feast on Nola as Acuna, Ozuna and Albies have all hit him well.
The Braves just watched the American League’s best team the Baltimore Orioles get swept by a Wild Card team in the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Dodgers are also on the ropes.
Losing Game 1 was a wakeup call and Riley looks like he just got locked in at the plate. Take over 1.5 HRR at reasonable odds of -125.
The Prop Pick: Austin Riley 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-125)
Hitter Prop Prediction 2: Ketel Marte 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-140)
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte finished the 2023 regular season with a .276 batting average. 25 home runs, 82 RBI and 94 runs scored across 645 plate appearances.
Marte is 5-18 (.278) with a home run and two RBI through five postseason games. More importantly, he has recorded 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in all four of those games.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Lance Lynn posted a 13-11 record with an ugly 5.73 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 191 strikeouts across 183.2 innings of work during the regular season.
He also allowed a league-high 44 home runs which sets him behind only Bert Blyleven’s 50 & 46 historically.
Lynn has yet to pitch in the postseason, but Marte is 4-13 (.308) with two doubles against him throughout his career. The Diamondbacks lineup has caught fire with 26 runs scored through four games while scoring 4+ runs in every game.
They currently lead the series 2-0 and they know they need to finish off the Dodgers while they have the chance.
Marte has essentially become an elder statesman on this Arizona team, and he will be locked in against a vulnerable starter that he has feasted on. Take the over 1.5 HRR at -140 for my favorite MLB play of the day.
