Florida State may have lost more games than Miami recently, but the former's aforementioned three-game skid came against schools that were ranked No. 22 or better. The Seminoles didn't even look horrible in those losses, losing each game by an average of six points, including two by a touchdown or less.
While Miami has won two of its last three outings, those victories came against Virginia and Virginia Tech, who have a combined record of 5-11. What's even more embarrassing is that the Hurricanes have been held to 20 or fewer points in both of those wins and haven't scored a touchdown in their last five quarters of regulation.
At the end of the day, I don't see Mia mi keeping pace here. Florida State has a top-50 offense this season, whereas Miami sits outside of the top 100. It doesn't help that the Hurricanes have been outscored 117 to 76 in their last three home games.
As far as best bets go, I'm taking Florida State to cover the 7.5-point spread. The Seminoles are 6-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last eight road games against the Hurricanes, while Miami is also 0-7 ATS in its last seven games this season.
