The Fairfield Stags will travel to McCann Arena on Friday evening in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup to take on the Marist Red Foxes. The Stags are 11-14 (7-8) so far this season and are coming off a 76-72 overtime home win against the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers on Sunday. The Red Fo xes are a brutal team with an 8-16 (4-11) record and are on a two-game losing streak after coming off a 73-65 road loss against the Siena Saints on Sunday. These teams faced off back on Dec. 30 with the Stags picking up a dominating 73-54 home win.

The Fairfield Stags are coming off a tough 76-72 overtime home win against the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers and it helps when you can score 33 points in the second half. They did a good job shooting the ball as they finished shooting 39 percent throughout the game, 28.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 28 free-throw shots. Sophomore guard TJ Long led the Stags as in 37 minutes he finished with 21 points, three rebounds, and a pair of steals. Defensively, they did a good job as they allowed the Mountaineers to finish shooting 45.2 percent from the floor, 25 percent from three, and 14 free-throw attempts. The Stags were able to record seven steals and five blocks throughout the course of the game.

The Fairfield Stags have been a strug gling offensive team with 64.3 points per game, which is 337th in the country, while also dishing out just 9.2 assists per game. They’ve been struggling to find their shot as they are shooting 40.3 percent from the field so far. On the defensive side of things, they are 53rd in the nation with 64.8 points per game as well. They recorded 3.9 blocks and 5.8 steals per game this season to try to improve on that side of things.
