East Carolina needed five field goals from Andrew Conrad to get by FAU on Saturday on the road in a 22-7 win for the Pirates. ECU's lone offensive touchdown came after a blocked punt and Gerald Green scored on a 18-yard run three plays later in the first quarter. The victory for the Pirates snapped a five-game losing streak and was their first road win of the season. It was also their first win against an FBS team as their only other victory came against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 23.

This has been a rough season for the Pirates. They sit in last place in the American Athletic Conference, tied with three other teams at 1-5. The problems start at quarterback, where Alex Finn has been very mediocre at best. Finn completed 18 of 30 for 156 yards with a pick against FAU. On the season, he is completing just 52.6% of his passes for 1,219 yards for four TDs and eight picks. Rahjai Harris leads in rushing w ith 341 yards and four TDs, but is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry.

East Carolina is averaging just 272.9 yards per game (131st), 162.8 passing yards (123rd) and 110.1 rushing yards (115th). They also average just 18.1 points per game to rank 127th in the nation. On defense, they've been much better, allowing 337.5 yards per game. They are also 27th against the run (114.4ypg), which is very important against an option team.
