Carolina Hurricanes vs. Vegas Golden Knights Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-1-2023

Carolina Hurricanes (39-11-8) vs. Vegas Golden Knights (35-19-6)

The 2022-23 NHL season goes on with a six-game Wednesday card and brings this interconference clash between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Vegas Golden Knights at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada at 10:00 p.m. ET.

Carolina defeated Vegas in overtime the first time these teams met, winning 4-3 back on January 25. Carolina was the favorite at -201 with the total set at 6.0. The Hurricanes are still the favorite in this contest (-130) with the total set at 5.5.

The Carolina Hurricanes saw their five-game winning streak come to an end when they lost at home to the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, 3-2. The team went 4-1-0 during their five-game homestand and now head to the road where they have won five straight games and are 18-4-6 this season. Carolina has the second-best record in the NHL and leads the Metropolitan Division by three points over the New Jersey Devils.

It took 51 saves by John Gibson to give Anaheim the upset victory. The Ducks took a two-goal advantage before the Hurricanes rally fell short. The team scored twice in the third. Andrei Svechnikov was held off the scoresheet but has eight points in his previous four games. Carolina is ninth in goals per game (3.36) and 23rd on the power-play (19.4%).

Frederik Andersen faced just 16 shots in the game but gave up three goals. He has been fantastic this season, posting a 2.47 goals-against average while going 14-5-0. However, do not be surprised if it is Antti Raanta (15-2-3, 2.32, .908) between the pipes. This is one of the best defensive teams in the NHL, allowing 2.57 goals per game, second overall and they are fifth in penalty killing at 82.7%.
