Calgary Flames vs. N.Y. Rangers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-6-2023

The Calgary Flames face the New York Rangers with both teams looking to build off strong seasons. The Flames have a 24-17-9 record and are in the middle of the Pacific Division. The Rangers have a 27-14-8 record and with two wins in their last three games are in third place in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams look to improve within their divisions and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Flames are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.12 goals per game with 16 goals in the last four games. Elias Lindholm, Nazem Kadri, and Tyler Toffoli have scored 52 goals and 73 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also been great. Jonathan Huberdeau, Mikael Backlund, and Dillon Dube have scored 31 goals and 58 assists while defenseman Rasmus Andersson has added seven goals and 26 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.98 goals per game. Rasmus Andersson and Noah Hanifin have combined for 6.2 defensive point shares and 167 blocked shots while Nikita Zadorov and MacKenzie Weegar have combined for 5.4 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. The hope is that goaltender Jacob Markstrom can improve as he has a .893 save percentage and a 2.86 goals-against average on 853 shots with -10.4 goals saved above average.
