It's mid-April which means the NHL playoffs are here! It's awfully subjective, but the NHL playoffs just may have claim to the best playoffs in sports. But that is a conversation for another time. The excitement begins tonight with a 2-game slate featuring the Islanders vs Hurricanes and Maple Leafs vs Bruins. This will be yet another fantastic NHL postseason and it all starts with these great Eastern Conference matchups.

The Islanders are a great story and have played great hockey lately. But the Hurricanes have played like it is their time to make a deep run. Carolina has been scorching hot for months, improved at the trade deadline, and have only pressed harder on the gas pedal.
The Hurricanes won 7 out of their last 9 games with a loss to the Blue Jackets for the sake of staying healthy. In Carolina's current stretch, their wins have been by an average of 2.86 goals. Lately, when the Hurricanes win, they win big. The Hurricanes have been winning a lot and will look to keep the trends rolling.
