Abilene Christian at Grand Canyon Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/17/23

The Abilene Christian Wildcats will head to Phoenix to face the Grand Canyon Antelopes in WAC action from the GCU Arena on ESPNU. Grand Canyon has won all three previous meetings, including a two-point win last month in Abilene.

Abilene Christian is 13-12 after losing to Sam Houston State at home. The Wildcats couldn’t keep up with the Bearkats after the break, and fell by 15 points, 77-62. ACU is scoring 76.0 points per game, while allowing 69.6 ppg, and shooting 46.2% from the field.

Abilene Christian had their three-game win streak snapped by Sam Houston, and they’ll look to avenge a two-point loss to Grand Canyon here in Phoenix. ACU is 7-7 in WAC play, with a 5-6 road record.  Sophomore guard Ali Abdul Dibba led the team with 18 points in the first meeting with GCU, and he’s reached double figures in three of the last five games. Senior forward Airion Simmons added 17 points, and he averages 9.3 ppg. Veteran guard Damien Daniels, one of the final holdovers from the 2021 tournament run, has scored 15 points or more in four of the last five games, and he’s up to 8.6 ppg and a team-lead 3.7 apg.
