Air Force vs. Wyoming Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-16-2022

There's a Mountain West matchup on Friday night from Laramie between Wyoming and Air Force at 8pmET.

Wyoming has played three games already and is 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS. The Falcons are 2-0 SU and 2-0 ATS after crushing Colorado last week 41-0 as a 17-point home favorite.

Last year, Air Force beat the Cowboys 24-10 as a 5.5-point home favorite.

Air Force wasn't really tested against FCS Northern Iowa in their opener, winning 48-17. They did step up in competition against Colorado on Sept. 10 and destroyed them by 31. Fullback Brian Roberts ran for 174 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Falcons in a relatively easy win over the Buffaloes. However, it was a sloppy game for Air Force, who fumble three times though they also force two fumbles and picked off CU QB J.T. Shrout off once.

Falcons' quarterback Haaziq Daniels was 1-for-5 for 8 yards and ran for just 29 yards. But in the option offense, if the fullback is picking up 174 yards and the team rushes for 435 yards, you are usually in good shape. It helps with time of possession (38:22 to 21:38). It also allows the defense to rest, though it might not have mattered as Air Force held the Buffs to just 162 total yards and forced them to go a combined 1 for 13 on third and fourth downs.

''That was a little bit of a crazy game, with the number of turnovers,'' AF head coach Troy Calhoun said after the game. ''I thought our defense really made some gigantic, sudden-change stops that were invaluable.''

Air Force's ultimate goal is to win the Commanders-In-Chief trophy, but they also may have a legitimate chance to win the Mountain West. The key will be beating Boise State at home on Oct. 22. In terms of non-confer ence play, the Falcons usually take care of business, especially at home where they are 30-4 under coach  Calhoun.
