Women's March Madness Odds 2024: South Carolina Still Title Favorite, Iowa Closing In
Women's March Madness Odds 2024: South Carolina Still Title Favorite, Iowa Closing Iniv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

After finishing the regular season undefeated, South Carolina remains the consensus betting favorite by the latest 2024 Women's March Madness odds and college basketball odds from our best March Madness betting sites.

After a relatively stress-free regular season, South Carolina endured a season's worth of drama in the SEC Tournament. Somehow, the Gamecocks managed to keep their perfect season alive, and they remain the clear favorites to win the NCAA Tournament as March Madness draws ever closer.

Dawn Staley's group is dealing at its shortest price of the season, with all of our best sports betting sites offering South Carolina at -120 or worse to win it all. That comes after the Gamecocks were upset in last season's Final Four by Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes, who own the second-best odds at most of our best sportsbooks.

De fending champion LSU is in the title mix, too, with a clear drop-off after those three. Will one of those three teams cut down the nets in April, or will we see a surprise challenger emerge in the tournament?

Here's a look at the latest 2024 Women's March Madness odds following an eventful week of conference tournaments:

Women's March Madness favorite 2024

Just when it looked like South Carolina would roll into the NCAA Tournament unscathed, the best team in women's hoops endured one of its craziest stretches in years.

First, the Gamecocks needed a buzzer-beating three from Kamilla Cardoso – who hadn't made a 3-pointer in her entire college career – to survive a spirited challenge from Tennessee in the SEC Tournament and keep their perfect season alive.

Just 24 hours later, though, Cardoso would be at the center of a fight with LSU that marred the SEC final and could cost Cardoso a game or two in the NCAA Tournament.

Even so, our best sports betting apps have shortened South Carolina's title price even further, suggesting little concern about Cardoso's availability or this team's ability to withstand further adversity in the NCAA Tournament.

Bettors don't seem concerned, either, with nearly half of all bets at BetMGM coming on the Gamecocks entering the postseason:

Women's March Madness odds 2024: Contender

The only team to beat South Carolina within the last two years is Iowa, which relied on an incredible performance from Clark to best the Gamecocks in the Final Four. And the Women's Wooden Award odds favorite has been even better this year.

The presumptive No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft – who is already among the favorites by next year's WNBA MVP odds – set the all-time NCAA Division I scoring record earlier this season, and her stellar play this past week helped the Hawkeyes secure their third straight Big Ten T ournament title.

The Hawkeyes feature the best offense in the country with a better supporting cast than the one surrounding Clark last year. Hannah Stuelke and Kate Martin are averaging 13 points or better per game, and Iowa is second in the country in field goal percentage (50.5%) and eighth in 3-point percentage (38.2%).

Lisa Bluder's program has the firepower to beat any team in the country on the right night, including South Carolina, and we likely won't see better odds than this the rest of the way.

Women's March Madness odds 2024: Long shot

The Buckeyes were catching +2000 odds or worse across our best live betting sites entering the Big Ten Tournament, but a shocking loss to Maryland led to Ohio State's title price slipping across the board.

Still, this feels like a great value for a team that was ranked as high as No. 2 in the countr y before falling to Iowa in the regular-season finale. That came after a 15-game win streak that included victories over two top-10 foes in Iowa and Indiana.

While going in any non-South Carolina direction is tough, especially when it's not Iowa or LSU, the Buckeyes have proven to be capable of beating some of the best programs in the country. If Jacy Sheldon gets hot, Ohio State could make some real noise in the NCAA Tournament.

Women's March Madness odds movement

After taking home the national championship in 2022-23, LSU was the favorite at most of our best March Madness betting sites to start this season. However, the tide started to turn early in the season with South Carolina quickly taking the crown of shortest odds to win it all.

The Gamecocks have been favored to win the NCAA Tournament since mid-November with Iowa, LSU, UConn, and Stanford rounding out the top fi ve for much of the season. Much of the movement has come in the tier below that, with the likes of Ohio State, Texas, NC State, and UCLA shuffling around every few weeks.

The biggest moves we've seen recently came after Iowa won the Big Ten Tournament, as the Hawkeyes now own the second-shortest odds at most sportsbooks. That comes with a related dip for LSU, which couldn't overcome South Carolina in the SEC Tournament final.

Women's March Madness betting analysis

No team in the country has been able to challenge South Carolina this season, and Dawn Staley's team has lost only three games in the previous three seasons, making it hard to justify betting against the Gamecocks.

As the odds continue to shift further in South Carolina's favor, the ship is sailing on finding value in betting on the consensus best team in the country. But in March, anything can happen and that's what makes this such an intriguing market.

With Clark leading Iowa and Angel Reese hoping to help LSU repeat as NCAA Champions, there's increasing value in betting against the Gamecocks. Looking beyond those top three, there's some major discrepancies across our best March Madness betting sites, and value to be had with teams like Stanford, Ohio State, and UConn.

Our best sports betting si tes, particularly BetMGM, have cooled on UConn in recent weeks, despite Huskies point guard Paige Bueckers being a Wooden Award candidate. While on the other side of the country, a team like USC has risen to No. 5  behind the play of JuJu Watkins and bet365 has the Trojans at +2800.

It may be hard to go in any non-Gamecocks direction, but there's talent all over the country that could unseat South Carolina. We'd recommend checking out our best sportsbook promos to maximize your wager in the March Madness betting markets.
