  • Atlanta is 10-0 SU in its last 10 home games.

White Sox vs Braves Prediction & Pick

The White Sox desperately need starting pitcher Michael Kopech to break out of his funk if they're to win tonight. The veteran hurler hasn't pitched since June 27 due to a shoulder injury and didn't look good when we last saw him, going 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA and 10 walks over eight innings in his last two starts.

The Braves have a good chance to win any time Charlie Morton takes to the mound. The 39-year-old starting pitcher has gotten better as the season has gone on and has won his last four starts with a 2.86 ERA. Even more impressive is that Morton has struck out 34 batters over his last 27 2/3 innings.

I'm taking the Braves to win this evening. Morton won't have an issue bettering the White Sox, who are averaging just 3.3 runs and 10.3 strikeouts while batting .200 over their last six games. Chicago is also 0-6 SU all-time in Atlanta, which doesn't bode well now that the Braves are on a 10-game winning streak at Truist Park this season.

The Braves are World Series contenders while the White Sox are a bottom-five MLB club for a reason. Back Atlanta to win this matchup decisively.

Final Score Prediction:'Braves: 6 | White Sox: 2

White Sox vs Braves Best Bet

For the best bet, I fully expect Charlie Morton to strike out more than 6.5 batters tonight. The grizzled veteran has excelled at retiring batters, averaging 11.3 strikeouts per nine innings in his last 13 starts. He finished with 7+ strikeouts in eight of those games, including in five of the last eight.

Additionally, the White Sox averaged 11.1 strikeouts in their previous 11 road games, finishing with double-digit K's on seven of those occasions. Expect Morton to frustrate Chicago's batters all night long.
