Which 2023 MLB Win Totals Should You Bet Based on Injury?

Here are some MLB regular-season win totals to target at FanDuel Sportsbook coming out of the All-Star break based on recent major injuries.

San Diego Padres OVER 82.5 Wins (-105)

The Padres have had a tumultuous first half of the season with injuries significantly impacting every level of the team. Their pitching staff has suffered with four of the five starters dealing with injuries. Top hitters Manny Machado (hand), Fernando Tatis Jr. (suspension) and'Xander Bogaerts'(wrist) have all had stints on the injured list, contributing to a lower win total than expected. Despite these challenges, San Diego is built for a deep playoff run and a rapid turnaround is anticipated in the second half of the season.

Los Angeles Dodgers UNDER 93.5 Wins (+104)

The Dodgers have also been afflicted by a barrage of injuries, particularly among their pitching staff. Star pitcher Walker Buehler is out for the year due to Tommy John surg ery. Julio Urias, Clayton Kershaw and'Dustin May'have all spent time on the injured list, with Urias being the only one to return healthy. While LA's offense has also been impacted, the lack of depth at starting pitcher could cause problems down the stretch.

Tampa Bay Rays UNDER 95.5 Wins (-110)

Similar to the Dodgers, the Rays have seen their starting pitching depth depleted due to injuries. Jeffrey Springs and Drew Rasmussen are both out for the season. Star pitcher Tyler Glasnow was out for over 50 games in the first half of the season and while he's returned, he's not performing at his pre-injury level. Additionally, Shane McClanahan is currently on the injured list due to mid-back tightness. Tampa Bay's recent struggles are indicative of the toll these injuries have taken as they've lost seven of their last eight games.

Los Angeles Angels UNDER 79.5 Wins (-115)

The Angels' infield has been greatly affected by injuries in the first half of the season, forcing them to sign Daniel Murphy. Players like Anthony Rendon, Gio Urshela and Zach Neto have all required stints on the injured list, with Urshela being out for the season due to a fractured pelvis. Furthermore,'Mike Trout'fractured his hamate bone just before the break and will not return until August. With this spate of injuries, there will be even more pressure on Shohei Ohtani, who has already locked up the AL MVP, to carry the team.

New York Yankees UNDER 87.5 Wins (+100)

The Yankees have grappled with a wave of injuries affecting both their offense and pitching staff. Key hitters'Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Josh Donaldson have all missed over 35 games due to injury, with Judge's slow recovery from turf toe being a particular concern. Big offseason acquisition Carlos Rodon missed almost the entire first half and has yet to justify his hefty contract. Given Judge's slow recovery, New York's offensive struggles are expected to continue into the second half of the season.
